Good Seats for Good Cause

Student artists were challenged to partner their philanthropic efforts with those of their color palettes by participating in the “Artsy Adirondack” contest, funded by ArtsinStark and benefiting Trillium Family Solutions.
Art departments from the following high schools participated: Alliance; Canton South; Central Catholic; Fairless; Hoover; Louisville; McKinley; Marlington; and Perry. Winning “best of show” was Marlington High School, who took home a $500 prize.
According to contest organizer and artist, Claudia Mullane, “All of the chairs were beautiful examples of creativity, originality and craftsmanship.” The chairs were part of the 2007 black-tie CHAIRedible event that included other chairs designed by celebrities, artists and designers. Thanks to a special project grant from ArtsinStark, The County Arts Council, prize money was made available to area high schools who stood up to the challenge of making something beautiful on which other's can sit.
